Beauty
Well, I just finished reading the most wonderful book ever (for the 2nd time)...."A Severe Mercy". I cried and cried and cried!
One theme throughout the book is beauty. A few times, the author points out how he has been seeking beauty rather than seeking God. This made me contemplate myself. Like the author of the book, I think I can confuse beauty with God. Yes, all beauty comes from God and that needs to be recognized, but beauty itself is not God. At times I think I seek beautiful moments, experiences, sights, etc. more than I seek God, Himself.
Hmm. So. If you have not already, please read A Severe Mercy, by Sheldon Vanauken. It may be a beautiful experience for you! (But hopefully the beautiful experience will not replace God himself!) :)

I've read the book and also was impacted by "that nameless something that stopped his heart"
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to get my hands on that one!
ReplyDeleteI just finished an old book called Not my Will by Francena H. Arnold. I bawled and couldn't put it down. Not as deep as Severe Mercy, but you should read it, maybe you'd like it! :)
ReplyDeletedoes the book talk about mercy for animals?
