Bouquet of Life

Hi! Here are four paintings, all done on plywood that I have been working on this week.  And side note, I'd also like to point out that last night, while working on our own projects, I think Bri and I topped our record for TV consumption.  We watched 2 episodes or International House Hunters, the latest Mr. Selfridge episode, Happy Gilmore and the totally awesome movie, Hanna (which might be one of my faves...directed by Joe Right). Can you believe it!?  Well, we had fun anyway.  Happy beautiful sunny Friday in Boston.  love this city.

Last Round: Brightly from a Seed Series

Whewww! And here is the last round of the series!  Etsy-bound soon... perhaps today?!  One of the things I like most about these paintings (besides how tiny they are) is how they point to Spring. Rejuvenation, rebirth, renewal...all that wonderful Spring stuff.  It's just sooo good!
Hope everyone is enjoying this semi-sunny Monday.  It is a big day in Boston today---Marathon Monday!  Good luck to all those crazy runners!

Brightly from a Seed

Some dear friends gave me these teeny tiny canvases for my recent birthday and I was so intrigued with the size that I had to start working on them asap.  I have twelve of these little guys near completion and will be posting the rest of them soon.  The only thing left to do, is to varnish them with some shine!

MY SEED

God gave to me a seed
Out of His garden, for my plot of earth;
Something He told me of its priceless worth,
That I might tend and feed;
Yet, when it grew, I counted it a weed.

I left if for the sky
To nourish, or the night-frost to destroy;
Its sprouting for a moment gave me joy;
But soon I passed it by, ----
The plant that God had given, I let it die.

I know the beauty now
That would have grown up brightly from my seed;
And if my tears my perished flower could feed,
It soon would grow, I trow.
I cannot make it live; my God, wilt Thou?

Painting #3

Well, here is another one! I don't know why, but I can't seem to paint something without a ton of color! Which is a little interesting because most of my clothes are brown brown brown.  Or blue.

This painting is something about the wildness of the mountains & their beauty.  Also, their endurance and how they look upward.

LIFT THINE EYES

O TROUBLED soul of mine!  lift up thine eyes
Unto the mountains, mighty and serene.
Full strangely checkered hath their fortune been;
And they have suffered veriest agonies.
And ofttimes still they tyrant tempest lies
Heavy upon them; with the thunder they
Do wrestle.  Yet of fear and of dismay
Nothing they know, still rising to the skies.
With many a thousand battles are they scarred;
The floods have broken on each helpless head;
Yet for all this their beauty is not marred,
Nor in their hearts are they discomforted.
Still they endure, whatever whirlwinds roll
Around, ---still glorious they endure, my soul!
